Trump welcomes Americans home

Singapore has pushed itself as a neutral actor in global affairs.

Former U.S. Ambassador to Singapore David Adelman said Singapore was ideal because it has been "an honest broker between East and West".

Pompeo said the U.S. would "work with them to develop infrastructure, all the things that the North Korean people need, the capacity for American agriculture to support North Korea so they can eat meat and have healthy lives".

"My only hope is with President Trump", said Hwang In-cheol, the son of a broadcast journalist whose flight was hijacked by a North Korean operative almost 50 years ago.

Abe has placed priority on resolving the abduction issue.

Coates said there were no preconditions for the talks, which could yet include other regional leaders such as the South Korean president, but concrete steps would be welcome. It's unclear how many are alive.

Drawn to big moments and bigger headlines, Trump views the North Korea summit as a legacy-maker for him, believing that the combustible combination of his bombast and charm already has led to warmer relations between North and South.

North Korea has never done any of these things.

For decades, the US and North Korea have discussed an agreement in which Pyongyang would abandon its nuclear activities in return for a formal peace treaty ending the Korean conflict and economic assistance for the impoverished regime.

The regime did not have much incentive to surrender its arsenal, even before this week.

Singapore and North Korea have a history - the first law firm and fast-food restaurant in Pyongyang were set up by Singaporeans - though relations snagged previous year when Singapore severed trade ties under new United Nations sanctions punishing Pyongyang for its nuclear and missile programmes.

"As of last night, there was no nuance in terms of denuclearization", he said. "God Bless America, the greatest nation in the world".

Merkel said that Europe can no longer rely on U.S. protection
Only 30 percent think the same of Russian Federation , 25 percent the same of the United States , and 7 percent of Turkey. But it is now time for "Germany to draw up its response by June" on proposed European reforms, Macron said .

North Korea's state companies have, in the past, conducted legal and illegal business dealings with Singapore companies.

Relatives say past South Korean governments ignored the issue while chasing inter-Korean summits or were reluctant to revisit a time when the country failed repeatedly to protect its own citizens.

Abe praised Kim for his recent "dynamic" moves, citing his two trips to China in a matter of weeks and his deciding to hold talks with Trump.

"I want to be the first president who says 'Nyet.' That's the reason I wanted to run for president". "PUST offers a mutually beneficial arrangement for both North Korea and the evangelicals".

The South Korean delegation will be headed by Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon.

Abe also said worldwide sanctions should remain in place against North Korea and any rewards must wait until Kim fully abandons his nuclear and missile programs.

Choi Sung-ryong, the 65-year-old son of a fisherman who was abducted in 1967, said the American detainees released this week should "feel fortunate they weren't South Koreans".

"What Kim Jong Un has said publicly and in discussions is that he is prepared to negotiate to achieve complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula", he said.

Choi believes his father was executed in North Korea in 1970.

"While most of the prisoners of war would be dead by now, numerous post-war abductees are likely alive", Choi said. "So, I don't want to get ahead of anything more specific".

North Korea hates South Korean activists, many of them evangelical Christians who smuggle out defectors and send anti-Pyongyang literature and Bibles into the North through its border with China. Secondly, some predict that Kim will demand that USA troops withdraw from South Korea. "Me, I had to do a lot of labor, but when I got sick, I was also treated by them".
