Pleas for common sense gun reform raised after Waffle House shooting

Waffle House Shooting Suspect Travis Reinking Was Obsessed With Taylor Swift And Said He Wanted To Marry Her

The Tennessee Waffle House where four people were fatally shot reopened Wednesday amid tears and solemn remembrance of the dead, as the company said it will donate a month of the restaurant's sales to help the wounded survivors and the families of the slain. He was arrested in a wooded area behind an apartment complex where he lived, after a civilian spotted him walking through a construction site and called 911, police said.

Turley, his 52-year-old former coworker, said that Reinking expressed a desire to marry Swift, claimed he had purchased a $14,000 ring for her, and even drove across several states to California to try to see her.

But Darlene Sustrich said Reinking began showing signs of paranoia in his last few days at the crane service.

Hartline said he did realize the customer was nervous about something when Reinking called the shop two weeks later on April 11.

Reinking admitted to yelling at Veals, but said he didn't come into her room or threaten her.

Police say they still do not know of a motive for the crime. When Reinking was arrested outside the White House in July for trying to cross a security barrier, he declared himself "a sovereign citizen" who was trying to speak with President Trump, according to a D.C. police report.

Ken and Darlene Sustrich did not respond to messages seeking comment this week.

IL police reports also paint a portrait of a fretful, volatile young man who, in one instance, blew up at an employee of his father's crane company, waved an AR-15 rifle around before putting it in his auto, and then driving to a local swimming pool while wearing a women's pink overcoat before diving into the water and exposing himself.

Chemical Weapons Watchdog in Syria to Begin Probe on Wednesday
Western states have blamed the Syrian government forces for the incident, but Damascus has denied using chemical weapons. He showed CBS News what he said was the origin of the deadly gas: a missile on the roof of the building.

Police say 29-year-old Travis Reinking killed four people and wounded four others with an assault-style rifle Sunday at the restaurant. Reinking was not armed, but at the FBI's request, IL police revoked his state firearms card and seized four guns from him, authorities said.

The police report from Colorado comes as records from IL alleged that Reinking told police Swift was stalking him, that he tried to pick a fight with lifeguards at the local pool and that he went to the offices of his father's construction business with a rifle, shouting expletives before driving away. Police said this week the call was cleared with no report filed.

In one report, an officer said Reinking's father, Jeffrey Reinking, had told police he took away his son's three rifles and a handgun before returning them.

"They may have reached out to the store, but I'm a hard guy to get a hold of", he said.

Sustrich says they received a phone call from the Federal Bureau of Investigation after he allegedly tried to jump the White House fence last July.

He said Reinking has been alert, compliant and "fairly normal".

As of Tuesday morning, Reinking remained in custody on $2 million bond. Reinking is charged with four counts of criminal homicide and other offenses.
