Giants Agree To Terms With Former Jaguars Guard Patrick Omameh, Agents Say

Per multiple sources, the New York Giants are expected to sign offensive tackle Nate Solder, thus ending his tenure in New England.

As reported by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Solder's deal with NY will make him the highest paid offensive lineman in the NFL.

NFL Free Agents can officially sign with teams at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

This is a major pickup for the New York Giants.

"Empty Shoes" Demonstration Outside US Capitol Honors Victims Of Gun Violence
Today marks the one-month anniversary of the Parkland shootings , prompting school walkouts across the country in solidarity. The father of a child killed in the Columbine shooting brought the shoes of his deceased son to place at the Capitol.

Reports surfaced late Tuesday that Solder had reduced his choices to the Giants and Houston Texans. The idea of also trading Flowers has also been floated around as well. The deal makes him the highest-paid offensive lineman in the NFL. Currently, on the roster, the Patriots have right tackle Marcus Cannon and developmental prospects Cole Croston, Andre Jelks and Jason King.

Top free agents available are players like Austin Howard, Greg Robinson, Justin Pugh, Chris Clark and Andre Smith. The four-year deal is reportedly worth $62 million, with $35 million guaranteed. Last night a small piece of good news was delivered: The Patriots will re-sign core special teamer Nate Ebner to a two-year deal. The Pats parted ways with fan favorites Danny Amendola and Dion Lewis, while much maligned Malcolm Butler fled for The Music City.

Solder will be the hottest of commodities going into free agency period. It seemed like all he cared about at this point of his career was winning and being on a team he was happy with, which he appeared to have in New England. And outside of an injury-shortened season in 2015, Solder has proven how durable he is.

The Giants paid a high price to land Solder, who was a Pro Bowl alternate for 2017 but didn't play because the Patriots were in the Super Bowl. You'd think the Patriots want to do everything possible to position themselves for a Super Bowl in 2018. Depending on what the Giants do with the remainder of free agency and later in the draft, Flowers could find himself at right tackle or competing at one of the starting guard spots, even though he has never played guard.
