Aside from this, Lesnar's no-show move on Monday night's RAW only reinforced the rumors all the more.
The WrestleMania 34 main event is set as Elimination Chamber victor Roman Reigns will take on Universal ChampionBrock Lesnar for the throne. He was about to headline WrestleMania in a title match with Reigns, and his WWE contract was set to expire shortly after the PPV.
WWE has yet to issue an official confirmation regarding Lesnar's future in the coming Wrestlemania 34. Say he signs with UFC the day after WrestleMania and re-enters the drug-testing program, he could be back in line for a fight as early as October, and there is a fight that could make him and UFC millions looming, with Jon Jones.
It should be noted that the WWE was also in the city on that night for their Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event on the WWE Network, but Lesnar didn't appear on the show.
Leaving WWE, with whom Lesnar has been under contract since 2012, seemed to be a more likely option last summer.
That doesn't mean Lesnar won't at least flirt with the idea of going back to the UFC.
Paul Heyman, Lesnar's on-screen manager, addressed the situation last week with TMZ.
What followed was the eternal WWE debate, was this a shoot or a work?
Many fans were against the idea of Reigns being the top guy in the company, while there were also people who have grown exhausted of Lesnar being a part-time performer but also a full-time champion.
Lesnar hasn't competed since UFC 200 in July 2016, retiring months after twice testing positive for a banned substance prior to his fight against Mark Hunt - test results that weren't revealed until after the fact. Though, WWE is said to have a backup plan in the form of Reigns taking on Braun Strowman (a matchup we've seen way too many times).
Perhaps the picture of UFC President Dana White and former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar taken recently was more than just a publicity stunt.
