Kushner business secured loans from bank bigs after White House meetings

Kushner's Israeli business ties examined amid loss of security clearance

Now, according to a report from The New York Times, Kushner Companies, which is run by Kushner's family, received $184 million from Apollo Global Management, whose founder, Joshua Harris, made "regular visits" to the White House in an advisory capacity.

Kushner met with Apollo founder Joshua Harris in the White House multiple times past year and even discussed the possibility of a White House job for Harris, sources told the newspaper. The Kushner family's real estate firm, Kushner Cos., is struggling to find the means to pay off a debt of that dollar amount due in January 2019, thanks to its ill-advised purchase of the 666 Fifth Ave. office tower in New York City in 2007, shortly before the Great Recession.

The New York Department of Financial Services last week sent letters to Deutsche Bank, Signature Bank and New York Community Bank seeking information between Kushner, his family and Kushner Cos., which develops real estate and is also a lender, according to the source.

Officials from the United Arab Emirates, China, Israel and Mexico have privately discussed how to use Kushner's lack of foreign policy experience and business interests to their advantage, The Washington Post reported Tuesday. At the time, the spokeswoman for Kushner Cos. said the firm "has cooperated and will continue to cooperate with any reasonable request for information". "These type of inquiries appear to be harassment exclusively for political reasons".

There is little precedent for a top White House official meeting with executives of companies as they contemplate sizable loans to his business, say government ethics experts.

Still, the Times' report is the latest in a series of worrying claims about the Trump family profiting from the presidency, which has sparked concern both inside and outside the White House. "Stories like these attempt to make insinuating connections that do not exist to disparage the financial institutions and companies involved", spokeswoman Christine Taylor said.

Peter Mirijanian, a spokesman for Kushner's lawyer Abbe Lowell, said Kushner has had no role in Kushner Cos since joining the government.

Russian Federation inquiry: lawyer who worked with Manafort charged with lying to Federal Bureau of Investigation
She is a political foe of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych , whose political party was a client of Gates and Manafort. The three were allegedly in touch about a report on the controversial trial of former Ukrainian prime minister Yulia Timoshenko.

The couple sold off some of their assets before starting their White House jobs past year, but Kushner still has stake in hundreds of companies.

Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn issued a document request to Kushner Cos. for information about that loan in November of previous year, the Journal reported in December.

But Trump's daughter Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, seem to have a different arrangement in mind.

White House spokesman Sarah Sanders would not comment on whether Kushner's security clearance issues had been resolved.

The requests come amid uncertainty over Kushner's role in the White House, and represent only the most recent scrutiny over his business practices, according to reports.

Often seen by Mr Trump's side during key moments of global diplomacy and presidential announcements during much of 2017, Mr Kushner accompanied Mr Trump on trips to Asia, the Middle East and Europe, meeting with officials in each place.
