Chiefs tried to trade for Rams Robert Quinn

Friday's trade, however, is a complete shocker.

The trade continues an offseason revamping of the Chiefs roster.

Now, with Kansas City's trade of cornerback Marcus Peters to the Los Angeles Rams, the Chiefs' secondary is back to where it was in 2017. Yes, you read that correctly. In fact, he was selected by the Chiefs one pick after the 49ers drafted defensive lineman Arik Armstead with the 17th-overall pick. It's expected that they'll eventually try to sign him to a long-term deal, but they don't need to rush to do so.

While Peters is undoubtedly a talent on the field, other issues have cropped up.

Peters is entering the fourth year of his rookie contract.

Oxfam Chief Asks Forgiveness For Sexual Exploitation By Aid Workers
Van Hauwermeiren, who left Oxfam in 2011 amid a sexual misconduct inquiry, has denied hiring prostitutes but said he had "intimate relations" with a woman who was "not a prostitute".

"We can't have our Pro Bowl corner getting tossed out the game", Chiefs safety Ron Parker told Lorenzo Reyes of USA Today after the incident. This comes after NFL Media's Ian Rapoport noted that San Francisco's interest in Peters was lukewarm.

Under head coach Sean McVay, the Rams are hoping that Peters will quickly assimilate into the winning culture they built last season. I find this highly unlikely. Later in the season Peters remained in the tunnel leading to the field from the locker room and did not appear on the field during the national anthem. His ability to guess correctly when jumping routes is so excellent it seems less like educated guessing and more like Spidey sense.

Look at it this way: In 2017, the Chiefs' top corners were Peters (elite), Mitchell (tons of questions) and Nelson (solid). During his three seasons with the Chiefs, there has been a long history of character concerns and reports of Peters wanting out.

Not long ago Chiefs fans had a reason to be confident in the team's cornerback squad heading into 2018. These are the kinds of moves that leave an organization labeled geniuses or fools-there is no in between.
