The free agent market for wide receivers got smaller on Tuesday. The non-exclusive franchise tag enables Landry to negotiate with other teams, but the Dolphins have the right to match any offer, and if they don't match, Landry's new team would have to give the Dolphins two first-round draft picks.

Tuesday was the first day National Football League teams could designate franchise or transition players.

The franchise tag can be as rewarding as it can be polarizing for players who are eligible for free agency.

On the first day teams could use their franchise or transition tags, the Miami Dolphins made a decision to place their non-exclusive franchise tag on star wide receiver Jarvis Landry.

The Dolphins later confirmed the report. Landry led the National Football League in 2017 with 112 receptions for 987 yards and nine touchdowns.

The LSU product has been an integral part of the Dolphins' offense in his four seasons in Miami, and the Dolphins likely would like to work out a long-term deal with him but didn't want to compete with other suitors this offseason.

Nokia Snakes it's Way Up to Number 6 Mobile Phone Brand Globally
Under the hood, the device is powered by a 2.2 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor along with Adreno 508 GPU. Overall, Nokia enjoys a 5 percent market share and sits at the 6th position (smartphones and features phones combined).

In 2017, Landry produced career-highs in receptions (112) and receiving touchdowns (9), and tied a career-high in first downs (60).

MIAMI (AP) - The Miami Dolphins decided receiver Jarvis Landry is worth any headaches he causes, even if the cost is $16 million.

Ryan Tannehill may still be the Dolphins' preferred quarterback, but odds are that Miami will either receive a first-round draft pick for Landry or draft a quarterback.

Last March, Dolphins head coach Adam Gase was optimistic about a potential contract extension for Landry, per Omar Kelly of the Sun Sentinel.

Landry can now continue in that role in 2018 following this move.
