National Weather Service Issues Winter Storm Watch This Weekend for Long Island, NY Region

Saturday Snow: Region transitions from near-record warmth to a winter storm watch

However, it will be cold enough on Friday and Saturday nights for ski resorts to make snow.

The National Weather Service says multiple winter systems will bring heavy winds and waves of snow to the Inland NW.

GFS model precipitation type forecast for the peak of the storm, Saturday night, showing a messy mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain.

Road conditions may be slick and reductions in visibility are possible. The low will be about 7 degrees with a 70 percent chance for snow.

Four to six inches of snow is possible for the Princeton area.

Southern Ocean County, parkway west to a line from Egg Harbor City to Maurice River to Downe Township: Rain/snow or snow will go to all rain by midnight.

A weekend snowstorm is on the way and promises to blanket the region with up to 6 inches of snow.

That means interior New Jersey will probably experience a quick "thumping" of heavy snow accumulation.

Sunday will see a bounce back to warmer temperatures with a high of 57 under partly cloudy skies forecast across the region. The strongest wind gusts will occur across the Waterville Plateau, along and south of I-90 across the Columbia Basin.

Many areas will be dry, but places that got snow or rain during the day might well have wet pavement by Sunday evening.
