Nikolas Cruz Instagram
Bennight, a 36-year-old video blogger from MS, told CNN that when he saw news of the shooting Wednesday at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and saw Cruz's name, he remembered what he'd seen on his YouTube page. The comment simply said, 'I'm going to be a professional school shooter.' No other information was included with that comment which would indicate a time, location or the true identity of the person who made the comment.
Kerik also said that the Federal Bureau of Investigation had prior information on the 2016 NY and New Jersey bombings, the 2015 San Bernadino mass shooting by married couple Rizwan Farook, and Tashfeen Malik and the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, but had failed to act.
"I would like to think that they were already investigating this guy and they had him on the top of their radar and that's how they ended up contacting me so quickly", Bennight said.
How and why that comment ended up on Bennight's Youtube page on September 25, 2017, is still a mystery to the bondsman.
Nikolas Cruz, 19, was charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder Thursday morning after he allegedly opened fire in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, killing 17 people and injuring more than a dozen others. It also outlines a procedure by which law enforcement authorities can obtain the information. They contacted him immediately, according to CNN.
Bennight told Pegues he spoke with the FBI Wednesday night again for about 20 minutes.
KTVU reached out to YouTube regarding a Nikolas Cruz account which appeared to be active until Wednesday but was closed because of violent content that violated company policy. "I didn't", Bennight told BuzzFeed. The FBI did a database review but couldn't identify the person who wrote the comment. The FBI's special agent in charge of the investigation, Rob Lasky, confirmed that the agency had been alerted to a posting on YouTube late a year ago by a Nikolas Cruz, bragging... "They took a copy of the screenshot and that was the last I heard from them".
