Nokia 8 users rejoice as new update comes your wayNokia
At the launch event, the Finnish company is expected to launch a slew of smartphones including its 2018 flagship Nokia 9 aka Nokia 8 Sirocco (a revival of Nokia 8800 Sirocco), Nokia 7 Plus and the Android Go-based Nokia 1.
The newest Oreo update includes features such as battery saving navigation buttons, revamped Power menu, Bluetooth battery percentage, and a new Setting menu, as per the changelog. The test has now ended and the company has started rolling out Android 8.1 officially to all Nokia 8 owners. Overall, Nokia enjoys a 5 percent market share and sits at the 6th position (smartphones and features phones combined). The update also brings the February Android security patch as well. However, one Finnish startup, HMD Global Oy, chose to take the big risk and resurrect the Nokia brand. As per the latest Android distribution chart, only 0.3 per cent of all active Android smartphones have received the update.
"We are rolling out Android Oreo 8.1 on Nokia 8!".
The most important markets for Nokia in Q4 2017 were the United Kingdom, where it's among the three most popular smartphone sellers.
HMD's Nokia-branded Androids haven't exactly got reviewers raving - but they are shifting in decent numbers. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 2.2 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor along with Adreno 508 GPU.
HMD Global seems to be on a roll as the company already announced their first smartphone of the year albeit only available in China, Nokia 6 (Second Generation), we are expecting the company to make more announcements later on this month at Mobile World Congress. According to the listing, Nokia 9 has a 5.5-inch OLED display and a dual-rear camera setup of 12MP+13MP. Note that it could also be the Nokia 7 More, which has recently made its appearance in renderings.
