Also on the esplanade were the Royal Marines Band Scotland who played for the former Suits actress, and the Prince, who became Captain General of the Royal Marines in December 2017.

Speaking to the crowds of people lined up to meet the pair, Meghan said: "Thank you for waiting in the cold for us". ET recently learned that the couple has asked British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran to perform at their wedding. There, they're set to meet the city's Lord Lieutenant Frank Ross to observe the firing of the One O'Clock Gun.

The Scottish sartorial links didn't stop there, pairing her ensemble with with black pants and a green Strathberry cross body bag - an Edinburgh-based company. She wore the Black Watch coat for Christmas Day in 2013. Princess Diana famously wore a tartan wool dress on her first visit royal engagement when she was just 26 years old.

And a stunning Meghan, sporting a tartan coat, was gifted roses, chocolate and other a handmade wooden heart as she shook hands with the crowds. She wore her luscious brown locks down for the event and was all smiles throughout the day. The bag is said to be from Strathberry, a local brand from Edinburgh. Prince Harry himself decided as normal to stick to his uniform tones of dark grey coat, white shirt and navy sweater.

Harry and Ms Markle spoke with the organisation's volunteers, customers and also staff who have been affected by homelessness.

Kensington Palace just announced that the couple will be undertaking a carriage procession from St. George's Chapel through Windsor Town at 1 p.m. (8 a.m. EST) before returning to Windsor Castle.

Finally, they attended a reception at Palace of Holyroodhouse, where they celebrated Scotland's Year of Young People 2018. Their most recent trip was to Cardiff, Wales, last month, which was followed by an appearance at the Endeavour Awards, where they helped present. I am delighted that they have chosen Edinburgh for their visit and no matter the weather, I am sure citizens will provide them with the warmest of Scottish welcomes.
