A freezing rain warning is in effect for the Montreal area. Watch out for those slippery sidewalks

Environment Canada says that periods of ice pellets or freezing rain are expected to reach the Golden Horseshoe area by late morning.

The freezing rain began over the Montérégie and spread toward the Mauricie later in the day, starting in Quebec City Sunday evening.

Rain is expected to persist for several hours before changing back to light snow Sunday afternoon.

A freezing rain warning has been issued for Sunday.
