Eurostar has announced a new direct route from London to Amsterdam and Rotterdam, which will launch on 4 April.

Our new route marks the culmination of the extensive investment in high speed rail on both sides of the Channel.

"The UK and Netherlands governments are both working hard to find an agreement that will allow us to check travellers' passports before departure from the Netherlands, as we already do in most of our other destinations", the company wrote.

At two hours and 15 minutes, the London to Paris journey is much quicker than the London to Amsterdam route.

The launch of the London to Amsterdam service marks a historic milestone in the expansion of global high speed rail travel, revolutionising the connection between these important destinations.

Orchestral manoeuvres - South Korean protesters greet North Korean Olympics ferry
The plan centers around rallying the worldwide community to further isolate North Korea both diplomatically and economically. Pence says he hasn't requested any meeting "but we'll see what happens".

The service will run twice a day from London, at 8:31am and 5:31pm. Over the last twenty-three years, the market for travel between London and Paris has more than doubled as customers increasingly choose high speed rail over plane. The extension of services to Amsterdam, another key business and leisure destination, has always been an aim of Eurostar.

"The launch of the London to Amsterdam service marks a historic milestone in the expansion of worldwide high-speed rail travel, revolutionising the connection between these important destinations", the company said.

The rail company will be running two services a day, departing at 08:31 and 17:31 respectively, with one-way fares starting at £35.

A deal between the British and Dutch governments should be in place by the end of 2019, Eurostar said.

A new link has been built, reducing the London to Brussels journey time by 17 minutes to one hour 48. Stay on the train for another hour and 13 and you're in Rotterdam, and Amsterdam is only another 40 minutes from there.
