KILDARE WEATHER UPDATE Showery day ahead today

A nationwide snow and ice weather warning has been issued, with wintry showers set to bring up to 3cm of snow.

The Status Yellow snow-ice Warning applies to all of Ireland.

Parents should be braced for a half term washout as heavy rain and freezing temperatures look set to hit the United Kingdom next week, the Met Office has warned.

The warning is valid from until 11.59pm Sunday 11 February.

A wind warning is in place for Munster, Leinster and Galway from 3pm this afternoon, with winds of 55 - 65km/h and gusts up to 110 km/h expected.

And the rain warning for Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal says: "Rainfall accumulations of between 30 and 40 mm are expected in 24 hours on Saturday".
