A snow avalanche hit an Army post in north Kashmir's Macchil sector killing three soldiers and injuring another on Friday afternoon.
A soldier in seriously injured in the hospital and he is undergoing medical attention at a hospital in Srinagar.
"The people living in higher reaches of these districts should avoid movement in the avalanche-prone areas/slopes for the next 24 hours", he had added.
Officials said an avalanche hit the post of Army's Rajputana battalion near Sonpundi post in Machil sector around 4 pm. He said four soldiers, guarding the border at Sonapindi picket in Machil sector in north Kashmir district of Kupwara were buried under the snow avalanche. The quick rescue operation recovered the soldiers but one of them died shortly after the rescue while two others succumbed to their injuries on way to Army base hospital in Srinagar.
