".any accusations of my handling of any complaints of sexual assault individually are completely false", Dantonio said during the press conference. I've always been a Spartan, and always will be.

When asked why he was stepping down, Hollis tearfully said, "Because I care". He says he did not know about the 2014 investigation. "As athletic director I am responsible to make tomorrow better than today".

On the same day of his resignation, an investigation by ESPN's "Outside the Lines" into Michigan State University and its athletic department "found a pattern of widespread denial, inaction and information suppression of such allegations by officials ranging from campus police to the Spartan athletic department ... well beyond the highly publicized case of former MSU athletic physician Larry Nassar".

In Washington, U.S. senators from both parties have called for the creation of a specialized committee to investigate the U.S. Olympic Committee.

The students are demanding more change from the university.

Jennifer Paine, a MI lawyer who specializes in child protection law and is not involved in the Nassar case, said there are probably grounds for charging some staff members for failing to report what victims were saying.

Hollis graduated from the university in 1985. He was on the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee for the last five years, and served as the chairman for the 2016-17 season.

Hollis has served as MSU's 18th athletics director since January 1, 2008.

Climate breakdown: Environmental threats once again top global risk survey
After a year of heatwaves, wildfires and hurricanes "extreme weather" has been seen as the single most prominent risk for 2018. Nearly 1,000 experts and decision-makers considered the likelihood and impact of 30 global risks over the next decade.

Michigan State argued that much of Nassar's abuse fell outside the scope of his employment.

Valid and critical questions about why, knowing for years there were allegations of sexual misconduct against sports doctor Larry Nassar at MSU and elsewhere nothing was done until now.

He said the victims' impact statement brought him to tears. There simply aren't the right words to express our sympathy.

We have always had high standards in this program and that will never change. But to do so, we must listen and learn lessons. "I didn't like Lou Anna Simon's resignation letter but there's part of it that rings a little bit true, when you're in charge you're in charge". Throughout my career, I have worked very hard to put Team MSU first.

"My heart breaks, my heart breaks thinking about the incomprehensible pain all of them and their families have experienced (caused by Nassar)", Hollis said.

The board plans to ask an independent third party to review health and safety at the school, and it wants state Attorney General Bill Schuette to consider appointing a neutral investigator to conduct an inquiry of the Nassar matter.

I spoke to my administrative staff, coaches, student-athletes, and most importantly, my wife Nancy and my children, over the course of the past week. "She said I must be misunderstanding what was going on". I am not running away from anything, I am running toward something. "Comfort, compassion and understanding for the survivors and our community; togetherness, time and love for my family".

Although federal prosecutors have declined to say if they are looking at any other aspects of the case, the Walker County sheriff's office is investigating the Karolyi Ranch, a training site for Olympic gymnasts. "As a University, we must focus on the healing of the survivors and the entire community".
