CBS Aims to Boost Video-Streaming News Hub CBSN in 2018

Newly named

CBS anchor John Dickerson of "Face the Nation" will co-host "CBS This Morning" following the ousting of Charlie Rose over allegations of sexual misconduct, The Huffington Post reports.

PBS and Bloomberg also ended relationships with Rose amid the allegations.

Dickerson will join Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell as permanent co-host on the morning broadcast beginning Wednesday, according to statement from CBS News President David Rhodes.

"This Morning" has the smallest audience of the three main morning shows on USA broadcast television with a daily audience of about 3.6 million.

Dickerson has anchored FACE THE NATION since June 7, 2015, as it generated some of its largest audience levels of the past three decades. "He's the ideal complement to Gayle and Norah". "Can't think of better way to celebrate and kick off our next chapter", King said.

The move illustrates the importance of morning programs to network news divisions, where they are the most reliable profit centers.

Sessions nixes Obama-era rules leaving states alone that legalize pot
Earl Blumenauer, an Oregon Democrat and co-chairman of the Congressional Cannabis Caucus, called Sessions' decision "outrageous". Under the state's medical marijuana law enacted in 2014, NY has 1,384 medical practitioners and 40,286 certified patients.

The announcement, from CBS News president David Rhodes on Tuesday, comes more than a month after Rose was sacked from the network amid allegations of sexual misconduct. "I've worked alongside John for nearly 20 years, and this is a great way to continue our mission of putting the news back in the morning".

Dickerson, a CBS News anchor, hosts Face the Nation on Sunday mornings, and the network said he will leave that role "in the coming weeks as CBS News prepares to name his successor".

Dickerson, 49, joined CBS in 2009 as an analyst and contributor and by 2011 was named the network's political director.

The journalist John Dickerson is a Washington creature to his core: a presidential historian, repository of political trivia, and scion of a glamorous Kalorama family whose party guests regularly included Kennedys, Johnsons and Reagans. Before Slate, Dickerson covered politics for 12 years for Time magazine. CBS THIS MORNING is in its closest competitive position with "Today" in at least three decades and in almost two decades.

John Dickerson with his new "CBS This Morning" co-hosts, Gayle King, left, and Norah O'Donnell.
