White Christmas chance looks very low for the Carolinas

The latest weather predictions show that temperatures are set to rise all week, and despite suggestions by some forecasters that the jet stream could shift south and cause another burst of Arctic weather, bookmakers appear to be banking on a non-white Christmas.

In fact, temperatures could struggle to get out of the teens on Christmas Day as a Polar Airmass moves in to the Central Plains and the Midwest. Sunday, we may be able to squeak out a dry day with sun and clouds for Christmas Eve. But it predicts northern areas such as Batesville and Oxford could have those "rain/snow showers" on Christmas Eve and switch to a "wintry mix" on Christmas Day.

And don't forget, if you have a bet on a white Christmas Day, you only need a single flake to fall.

Stronger winds are then due to move south, hitting the United Kingdom from Boxing Day to New Year's Day with two further low pressure zones on their way.
