White House: Trump's slurred speech was caused by a dry throat

U.S. President Donald Trump announces that the U.S. government will formally recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel with Vice President Mike Pence in the Diplomatic Reception Room at the White House

As Trump entered the event, his first words were - "I know there are a lot of happy people here, Jerusalem", to a roaring applause from the crowd, a relatively small one compared to past White House Hannukah events. "You do have faith and you do have resilience", Trump said. Beside them was his daughter Ivanka and her husband, senior adviser Jared Kushner, and the president's grandchildren, whom he noted are Jewish. Hanukkah is a time for Jewish families throughout the world to celebrate the miracles of the past and promises of the future.

An intense and sustained push by US evangelicals helped drive President Donald Trump´s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel´s capital and eventually relocate the USA embassy there, activists said on Wednesday. In Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, they found their most sympathetic audience.

"I do know that I spent 12 days on the road with him in Asia, and despite the fact that he's a little bit older than me, he had twice the energy that I do - and I'm the one sick now, and he's still going", Sanders said November 30 at her daily news briefing. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, who is Jewish, was also at the reception, donning a kippah.
