After the others filed out, Trump made an insistent plea to Comey - who, it turns out, kept careful memos of this and other interactions he had with the president - to take it easy on General Michael T. Flynn, his national security adviser who'd been fired the previous day.

Washington D.C. [United States], Dec 1: United States President Donald Trump's former national security adviser, Michael Flynn has pleaded guilty for lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.) about conversations with the Russian ambassador in January.

"I recognize that the actions I acknowledged in court today were wrong", Flynn said in a statement.

He also promised to cooperate with Robert Mueller, the special counsel overseeing the investigation into alleged collusion between Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and Russian Federation.

Jack Posobiec, an aggressively loyal social media Trump sycophant who was kicked out of a pizza restaurant for filming a child's birthday party in an attempt to discover the truth about "Pizzagate", made desperate attempts to spin for President Trump after news broke that General Mike Flynn had testified that officials from the Trump campaign instructed him to talk with Russians.

Flynn and a Trump adviser "discussed that the members of the presidential transition team at Mar-a-Lago did not want Russian Federation to escalate the situation" the filing said.

Court documents say Flynn was instructed by "a senior official of the Presidential Transition Team" to discuss holding back on retaliation with Kislyak.

Early on in is administration, Trump had taken a particular interest in the status of the Flynn investigation. Flynn also denied receiving a response to the request.

'Game Of Thrones' HBO Hack: US Officials Charge Iranian National In Attack
Prosecutors are expected to release more information at a news conference Tuesday afternoon. He has not been taken into custody and the feds are trying to track him down.

As reported by ABC News, this includes revealing that Donald Trump instructed him to make contact with the Russians.

In the second statement Flynn made on December 22, 2016, Flynn denied asking a Russian Ambassador to delay or defeat a United Nations Security Council resolution.

In a striking rupture with past practice, the Obama administration refrained from vetoing the condemnation, opting instead to abstain.

"The false statements involved mirror the false statements to White House officials which resulted in his resignation in February of this year", he continued.

A White House lawyer said that nothing in Flynn's guilty plea "implicates anyone other than Mr Flynn".

But Trump has repeatedly rejected that view. The FBI folded Flynn into an official investigation into the possibility that Team Trump colluded with Russia, an inquiry that began in July 2016 after the USA intelligence community picked up reports of a pattern of odd contacts between the Trump campaign and an assortment of Russians. When asked how he pleaded, Flynn only said, "Guilty, your honor".

Mueller's team announced charges in October against three other Trump campaign officials, former chairman Paul Manafort and his business associate Rick Gates, and a former campaign foreign policy adviser, George Papadopoulos. He has been under investigation for a wide range of allegations, including lobbying work on behalf of Turkey, but the fact that he was charged only with a single count of false statements suggests he is cooperating with Mueller in exchange for leniency.
