4.4 Earthquake felt off Delaware Bay
The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 4.4 magnitude natural disaster 10 kilometers off of Dover, Delaware.
The 4.1 magnitude natural disaster was reported at 4:48 p.m. 10 KM east northeast of Dover Base Housing in Delaware, USGS confirms.
The natural disaster was measured by the U.S. Geological Survey at a magnitude of 4.1 on the Richter scale.
There's no word on whether there was any injuries or damage.
The track, known for its Miles the Monster mascot and its reputation as one of NASCAR's toughest venues, responded to the quake with trademark bravado in a tweet.
Thursday's quake marks the first time the region was hit by a minor quake since a stronger 5.8 magnitude quake struck on August 23, 2011. Residents in New York City and as far south as northern Virginia reported feeling the quake. However, in DE, the quake jolted downtown Dover, sending lawmakers and workers in the statehouse outdoors to see what happened.
