Separately, Prince Harry confirmed the couple were an item last November in a Kensington Palace statement criticizing the "wave of abuse and harassment" his then-girlfriend had faced from media outlets. "We know this particular coat is one of her favorite pieces so we have officially made a decision to name it the 'Meghan'". The fashion label was so pleased with her support that it has chose to name the Fall 2017 piece after her, the group's head said in a Monday statement.

Prince Harry, 33 and Ms Markle, 36, made their first public appearance as a couple in September at the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games, a sporting event set up by the prince for injured, wounded and sick soldiers.

The two proved their love in an interview with the BBC, with Markle revealing she said "yes" immediately to Prince Harry as he got down on one knee to propose.

And, while further details on the big day are still in the early stages, the cost of the wedding is expected to be pricey, falling right in line with his brother, Prince Williams' 2011 nuptials to Kate Middleton, which reportedly cost around $34 million.

Harry, the second son of Prince Charles and Diana, spent 10 years in the British army, serving two tours of duty in Afghanistan. "Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person".

"It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together", the couple said in a joint statement.

During the wide-ranging interview, the Prince of Wales told of how the couple were introduced by a mutual friend while on a blind date.

The pair also announced that Ms Markle will not continue acting. "It's incredible. obviously not being able to meet his mum, it's so important to me to know that she's a part of this with us", Markle said, turning to Harry as she spoke about the ring. "We were just hit so hard at the beginning with a lot of mistruths".

Markle, who has a starring role in the Toronto-filmed U.S. TV show "Suits", has lived in the Canadian city for several years.

She was born in Los Angeles in 1981.

New rules on royal succession came into force in 2015, allowing members of the Royal Family to marry a Roman Catholic and become king or queen.

They will marry in the northern Spring of 2018.

Their married home will be the prince's current residence, Nottingham Cottage, on the grounds of Kensington Palace - where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, also have an apartment.
