At Least Three Dead, Students Wounded After Shooting At California School

15 November 2017, 12:54 | Katrina Lee

Authorities say three people have been killed in shootings at multiple locations in rural Northern California, and the shooter has been killed by law enforcement.

The violence began at a home and ended at Rancho Tehama Elementary School, where one student was shot.

The shooter was armed with a semi-automatic rifle and two handguns, Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston told local media. "I don't know any information at this time about any of the victims at the school".

The school has been cleared and children were moved to a safe location.

About 100 law enforcement officials responded to "multiple scenes, I can think of at least five scenes", after the shooting, he said. The shooter himself has been killed by police and several victims are now being treated at a local hospital.

Pixel Buds pre-orders now heading out Google's doors
Android Police adds that some Nexus 6P users who upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo recently are reporting similar screen flashing. A lot of users have tried disabling adaptive brightness on the Pixel 2 XL, but the issue seems to persists.

NPR's Nate Rott spoke to resident Tiffany Rodgers, who knows nearly every student at the elementary school and heard the shooting from a nearby cafe.

He declined to release the name of the gunman but said he was "aware" of a domestic violence incident that neighbours reported.

Police from Red Bluff, investigators from the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation and Tehama County District Attorney's Office, and California Highway Patrol officers are assisting across the "widespread scene", Johnston said.

Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and children screaming at an elementary school about five miles down a road from where the shooting is believed to have started. Flint said the neighbor had been shooting "hundreds of rounds" from large magazines.

A person with the username Javier Figueroa tweeted that the shooting had taken place at his brother's school.
