Google opening API behind Pixel 2's Driving DND mode for building better car experiences
The flagship Pixel smartphone already utilizes the built-in voice assistant software feature, but Google plans to roll out to all U.S. Android devices soon. Some users are reporting that the Pixel 2 series has a microphone problem, while some others are seeing screen flashes on the Pixel 2 XL.
"[.] every time that Google Assistant is summoned up and any bluetooth headset is connected, then Assistant will NOT detect audio neither from bluetooth headset nor from phone, said one user in the forum".
Fast Pair in particular is an awesome feature that's now available in only select few Made for Google headphones: Google Pixel Buds of course, Libratone's Q Adapt On-Ear, and Bose® QuietComfort 35 II. A lot of users have tried disabling adaptive brightness on the Pixel 2 XL, but the issue seems to persists.
Complaints about the Google Assistant and Bluetooth problem come shortly after some users complained about the device's OLED screen. When users make a call the other person on the other side can not hear them. One user reported in Google'sPixel forum, "I'm not sure why, but the Pixel 2 XL screen flashes when unlocking (fingerprint and lock button), when the screen wakes up because of notifications, when the screen dims and the phone locks, and when manually locking". According to one user, blowing air in the speaker brings back the microphone. "Doing this made my microphone work again and it continues to work when it goes out". Android Policeadds that some Nexus 6P users who upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo recently are reporting similar screen flashing.
One of the users reported a temporary solution to the issue, "I believe this is a hardware issue unfortunately - or at least in my case. Blowing into the speaker when the microphone is working causes it to fail", Zeird wrote.
