Yemen's Houthi fire missile at Saudi Arabia's Riyadh
Saudi Arabia on Saturday intercepted and destroyed a "ballistic missile" northeast of the capital Riyadh after it was launched from Yemen, state media reported. The missile was allegedly aimed at the King Khalid International Airport.
According to AP, Houthi-owned news outlet Al-Masira reports that the ballistic missile was sacked late Saturday (4 November) from across Saudi Arabia's southern border by Houthi militants in Yemen.
Yemen's Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for firing the ballistic missile.
The Riyadh airport tweeted soon after that it hadn't been affected.
"The rocket landed on the airport campus and did not cause any significant damage". There have also been reports of a loud explosion heard at the capital's airport.
Louis winter forecast; what's in store?
Forecasters at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center released the U.S. It has extensive effects on the weather in North America and can affect Atlantic and Pacific hurricane seasons.
Al Jazeera could not independently verify the reports. Yemen is 500 or 600 miles south of Riyadh.
Despite thousands of airstrikes and a blockade of Yemen from the sea and air, the Saudi-led coalition has failed to push the Houthis out, although it does claim to have reduced the territory the rebels control.
This is the first time that a Houthi missile has come so close to a heavily populated area, and it appears to be the farthest that such a missile has reached inside Saudi Arabia. The Houthis have been targeting various Saudi cities with missiles since the beginning of the war of the Saudi-led coalition against the Houthis in Yemen in 2015.
Some, including the authors of a United Nations report, have accused the Saudis of causing devastation and the deaths of thousands, as a result of their involvement in the war.
