TMZ has since reported that Paddock was determined to secure a room with a view of the stage, and strong-armed hotel staff into guaranteeing him rooms with a view though it is against hotel policy.

One side of the hotel faces Grant Park, an expansive space where the Lollapalooza festival was held.

Now, USA Today reports that Paddock booked hotel rooms overlooking Lollapalooza 2017. We are cooperating with the authorities on this matter.

Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi would not confirm the TMZ report about Paddock's plans in Chicago, but said the department is aware of the report.

The same week that the Life is attractive event was set to go down, Paddock sent his live-in girlfriend, Marilou Danley, home to the Philippines to "spare her life", according to her sisters.

The Boston Globe, quoting anonymous sources, said Paddock may have scouted Fenway Park and other Boston venues before settling on Vegas.

Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo told reporters that Paddock had used Airbnb to book a room at The Ogden. His renting the condo was curious because, as a high-roller, he could have easily gotten a free room at one of the casino hotels on the Vegas Strip. The festival regularly attracts huge crowds, sometimes drawing as many as 100,000 people on each of its four days, and celebrities are regularly spotted among the concertgoers. Paddock had sent Marilou Danley to the Philippines and wired her money.

Kurds reject post-vote Iraq moves as 'collective punishment'
On Saturday, Erdogan said Iraqi Kurdistan "will pay a price" for the "unacceptable" referendum , without elaborating. Baghdad has closed Kurdish airspace and vowed to take control of the autonomous region's external borders.

In the days after the attack, it remained unclear why Paddock carried out his attack.

"We are constantly revising and asking fundamental questions", said Mayor Rahm Emanuel, adding that the marathon would proceed as planned. An unnamed hotel source also confirmed the information to DNAinfo, the publication said.

Authorities say the Las Vegas gunman may have considered other music festivals to target, including Chicago's Lollapalooza, shown here in July 2016.

The festival is popular with the children of the rich and famous - including former US President Barack Obama's eldest daughter Malia.

The official was not authorized to discuss the case publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity after being briefed on the investigation.

Australia's foreign affairs department said Friday it is aware she is "a person of interest" and described her case as "a matter for USA law enforcement".
