The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for East Bay Interior Valleys which is an upgrade from their previous warning on Friday.

Dangerously hot weather is expected in the majority of the Bay Area.

San Diego County offers a number of "cool zones" for older residents and others to escape the heat during the summer months. Temperatures here will range from 85-94 degrees. Highs will hover around the 100 degree mark for the remainder of the week.

Inland areas near and around Contra Costa County and near the Southern Salinas Valley may see thermometers break 112.

Since the organization strives to bring astronomy-based education to schools, this is pretty much the flawless project for them. For one , there's another total solar eclipse coming to the US on April 8, 2024 , so if nothing else, you could just keep them.

The weather service attributed the heat wave to a "strong upper-level high-pressure system over the region combined with weakening onshore flow".

"It will be important to prepare for the heat and have a plan ready in case your (air conditioning) goes out or you don't have any (air conditioning)", the weather service said. An Excessive Heat Warning is issued within 12 hours of the onset of extremely risky heat conditions. Anyone working or exercising outside risk dehydration and heat-related illnesses. If you don't take precautions immediately when conditions are extreme, you may become seriously ill or even die. A Heat Advisory is issued within 12 hours of the onset of extremely unsafe heat conditions.

And while the mercury will skyrocket Monday, temperatures are expected to be even higher Tuesday and Wednesday, with meteorologists predicting the heat to peak Tuesday for areas west of the mountains and on Wednesday farther inland. "Some heat related illnesses are serious enough to require hospitalization and could become fatal if left untreated".
