Weather Blog: Tracking Potential Tropical Cyclone Ten off Georgia coast

Tropical Storm Watches Issued for the Carolina Coast; Potential Tropical Cyclone Ten to Scrape Southeast Coast

A low pressure system looking to make a name for itself as a tropical storm is predicted to bring increasing winds and churn up a rougher surf along the Carolina coast late Monday into Tuesday.

Regardless of how the system develops, the low was expected to cause increased winds and rough surf along the Georgia, North and SC coasts on Sunday and through mid-week.

Tropics remain active as we're continuing to watch Tropical Storm Harvey as well as a second area of interest closer to home. These are trying to organize into a tropical system, but haven't been able to just yet.

According to the National Weather Service, this is due to a low pressure area off the Georgia coast that may become a tropical storm as it moves north Monday and Tuesday.

Late Sunday afternoon, the National Hurricane Center issued a tropical storm watch for Georgetown and Horry counties in SC. It is also possible that this system will merge with a front in the region before development occurs.

Potential tropical cyclone ten has formed off the Georgia coast.
