Clerk who sold record jackpot just happy to have touched winning ticket

Kamaljeet Kaur with her husband Gurinder Singh owners of the Handy Variety store thought they sold the jackpot winning ticket only to be told the lotto made a mistake 

Now, with her historic win, Mavis Wanczyk is able to offer herself and her children a life they never could have imagined previously.

The store is expected to get $50,000 for the sale. The other ticket was sold at Fas Mart, at 4454 John Tyler Highway in Williamsburg.

The lottery said the ticket was bought from a convenience store in Chicopee, about 160km west of Boston.

A $200,000 ticket was also sold at Frank's Trucking Center, at I4717 West Military Highway in Chesapeake.

The winning numbers in the drawing were 6-7-16-23-26 and 4 for the Powerball. "We're happy for our customer, and we're happy for the charities".

Mike Donatelli, a spokesman for the Pride Station & Store in Chicopee, said the store was notified shortly before 8 a.m. that it had actually sold the record jackpot ticket.
