Google and Walmart team up against Amazon

Here comes a new trending facility provided by Google that can bloom each individual's life. Amazon's prices are generally comparable to those found in most big-box stores, but its vast inventory is hard for even the largest retailers to beat.
Amazon now controls about 70 percent of the voice-enabled speaker device market with its Echo device, while Google controls about 24 percent of the market, according to eMarketer's research.
"This will enable us to deliver highly personalized shopping recommendations based on customers' previous purchases, including those made in Walmart stores and on Walmart.com", Lore saidin a statement.
Lore said the plans would be rolled out further next year, with Walmart using its 4,700 United States stores to "create customer experiences that don't now exist within voice shopping anywhere else". Next year, we will also leverage our 4,700 USA stores and our fulfillment network to create customer experiences that don't now exist within voice shopping anywhere else, including choosing to pick up an order in store (often for a discount) or using voice shopping to purchase fresh groceries across the country. Google, which introduced shopping to its Home speaker in February, is a distant second, though it is expected to gradually increase its share. This is why it is logical for us to team up with Google.
Starting in late September, Walmart will offer hundreds of thousands of items accessible through Google's online marketplace, Google Express. Previously, Google Express was either $10 per month or $95 per year with additional per-order delivery fees. And through this partnership, Walmart will be offering the most items of any retailer on the Google Express platform.
Is Walmart Poised to Gain From the Latest Move? However, the retailer has tried that before and generally failed to make a dent in Amazon's dominance. Alexa represents a much bigger ambition than just another way of doing online shopping.

"More competition, more choice is great for consumers", said Sridhar Ramaswamy, Google's head of commerce and ads during an interview with Recode.
Voice-enabled shopping is still in its infancy, but analysts say it is a rapidly growing piece of the pie. Reports have suggested that not many people are using Alexa to order from Amazon. However, I do believe it is the future of online shopping.
An estimated 55 percent of Americans begin their online shopping trips on Amazon, according to a survey conducted a year ago. Now where have we seen that tech before?
Meanwhile, Walmart will be offering the largest number of items through the platform. One thing that retailers and brands need to be wary of in a world without interfaces, is that consumers will have less exposure to a brand's personality - the traditional model of visual advertising could very well become obsolete.
Perhaps the most interesting part of the Walmart-Google deal is the fact that it will give Walmart a foothold in the nascent market for voice-based shopping thanks to the fact that Google Express is integrated with Google's voice-controlled speaker, Google Home.
