HORROR A man attempted to auction a British model online
A British model was kidnapped and held captive in Italy for six days, police have said, by a man who reportedly meant to auction her on the dark web.
Police are now working to identify Herba's accomplices and established what happened to the woman while she was help captive.
The Foreign Office says it is providing consular support to a British woman.
Officers seized Herba, who is believed to live in the West Midlands, near the British Consulate on July 17 as he was accompanying the model there and said he confessed to the crime.
Her captors seemed to have a change of heart when they found out the model had a two-year-old child, and told police their "rules exclude kidnapping mothers" and chose to try and release her, the local paper reported.
Authorities said the kidnappers were going to release her "because she had a 2-year-old child" and their "rules exclude kidnapping mothers".
Herba allegedly offered the model's freedom in exchange for about USD$60,000 (A$75,000) and threatened to kill her if she told police.
CORPORATE REPORT: Charter, Sprint and HSBC
Analysts, on average, expected a net loss of 1 cent per share on revenue of $8.11 billion, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. A Charter spokesman declined to comment on Monday on whether the company would sell to the wireless carrier.
The woman was kept handcuffed to furniture but was freed and taken to the British embassy in Milan, despite the ransom not being paid.
Italian media reports that Herba has links to the "Black Death" criminal organisation that works on the dark web.
Prosecutors described the kidnapping as a "very well-organised seizure" and added he was contacted over the internet two days later with requests to "buy" her for sexual purposes.
However, when the model turned up in Italy, Herba allegedly kidnapped her, drugging her with the strong anesthetic Ketamine, before handcuffing the model, placing a pillow case over her head and putting her into a suitcase.
It was not immediately clear why the suspect took the model to the consulate.
The woman was released after being held for six days and investigations are being carried out by authorities in Italy, Poland and the UK.
