Colin Kaepernick Merchandise Still Among NFL's Top Sellers
Sports fans have been buzzing about a leak that claimed The Ravens want to sign Colin Kaepernick. And he isn't the only owner doing so.
Bisciotti wouldn't be the only National Football League owner who appears scared away by Kaepernick and the attention his peaceful protests against police brutality and desire to shine a spotlight on racial injustice will bring to a team.
"The football field is our sanctuary", Lewisposted on his Twitter account.
Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti confirmed earlier this week that the franchise may sign Kaepernick, adding that it would consult with Lewis, as well as the public, to gauge whether it was the right decision. Lewis asserts that he's praying for the free-agent quarterback and encourages his supporters to do the same so Kap can stop all this "nonsense".
Meanwhile, over the weekend, Bisciotti said that he had been asked by a fan about Kaepernick hurting the organization's brand. "We're very sensitive to it, and we're monitoring it, and we're still, as Ozzie says, scrimmaging it, and we're trying to figure out what's the right tact".
With Joe Flacco now sidelined due to a back injury, Baltimore is expected to be in search of another potential QB for insurance alongside current backup Ryan Mallett.
Team president Dick Cass confirmed the Ravens are reaching out to former players, major sponsors and advertisers to see what reaction might be if they sign Kaepernick. "The battles you fighting, brother, people way before us have been fighting these for many, many, many years". "I think it would be a good spot for him". Backup Ryan Mallett has struggled in training camp to live up to the task, throwing at least five interceptions in one practice, according to ESPN.
Kaepernick, 1-10 as a starter last season with the 49ers, as a 32-32 career record and led San Francisco to the 2013 Super Bowl, which the 49ers lost to Baltimore.
