Wisconsin Republican Party outraises Democrats

Historically, the party in the White House tends to lose congressional seats in midterm elections. Several Republican senators have declared they could not support the current bill, much to the dismay of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Tennessee).

Democrats, spurned by the Election Day victory of Donald Trump and toiling and reeling after further losses in special elections held this year, want a full investigation into the president's campaign and alleged collusion with Russian Federation more than any other major issue now facing the country, a Morning Consult/Politico poll released Wednesday showed. The results were quite damning for the GOP's hopes of remaining in control of the Senate and possibly even the House come January 2019.

Nor does either side have an edge in enthusiasm: Eighty-four percent of anti-Trump registered voters say it's extremely or very important to them to vote to oppose him in the midterms.

I don't agree with commentators who tell us both major political parties are in disarray.

Tour de France wrap after stage 12
A tough 101km stage from Saint-Girons to Foix could cause further changes to the general classification tomorrow. With his Team Sky team-mates peeling off the front, Froome appeared certain to attack in the closing kilometres.

Needless to say, the top, headline number in the poll is still encouraging for Democrats, especially considering they have ample time to hammer out the policies and defining principles they intend to run on.

In addition, 29 percent said he sets a bad example for the United States when he makes personal attacks; 62 percent said they dislike his use of Twitter; 53 percent dislike Trump's refusal to release his personal tax returns; and 51 percent disagree on how Trump is handling Russia's interference of the 2016 election. "For one thing, Americans who strongly disapprove of Trump do not appear to be any more motivated to vote than the average American".

Fifty-two percent of respondents said they believe the party stands for nothing except opposing Trump, while 37 percent said they believed it stood for something more.
