The storm weakened as it approached the region, with maximum sustained winds dropping to 40 miles per hour (65 kph), according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center.

As of 11 a.m., tropical storm warnings are in effect for Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Tropical storm conditions are expected in the warning area by late Tuesday and Tuesday night. Because Don is easily influenced, "it can not be stressed enough that confidence in the intensity forecast is very low at this time", in the words of the National Hurricane Center. The tropical storm was forecast to move through the Windward Islands today and tonight.

The National Hurricane Center forecasts that some gradual development of this system is possible through mid-week while it moves toward the west-northwest or northwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour.

Don will be the second tropical storm in less than a month to affect portions of the Windward Islands, before drifting into the Caribbean Sea this week.

In a brilliant show of passive aggressiveness, the National Hurricane Center names it Don.

The other system is about 800 miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Don will weaken as it nears Curacao Wednesday afternoon, and is projected to dissipate shortly after passing by the northern tip of Columbia.
