Trump Hotels Discloses Data Breach At 14 Properties

A number of Trump Hotels were hit by hackers who stole credit card numbers and other sensitive information from guests staying at the properties.

The Trump Hotels organization issued a statement explaining that the hotels use a third-party reservation system known as Sabre SynXis. Despite the Soho listing, Trump Hotels and Sabre assert that the first breach was August 10, 2016, and the last was March 9, 2017.

The properties affected include: Trump Central Park; Trump Chicago; Trump Doonberg; Trump Doral; Trump Las Vegas; Trump Panama; Trump Soho; Trump Toronto; Trump Turnberry; Trump Vancouver; Trump Waikiki; Trump DC; Trump Rio de Janeiro; and Albemarle Estate.

The range of data acquired by the hacker (s) was extensive, and included things like a cardholder's name, the payment card's number/expiry and possibly its security code, the guests' names, numbers, email addresses, physical addresses, and other unspecified info.

Just last September, Trump's hotels agreed to settle the penalties worth $50,000 aftera series of alleged security breaches compromised payment information to the tune of 70,000 cards, which was said to be accessed in May 2014.

Cardinal George Pell returns home to face historical child sex charges
The former Sydney and Melbourne archbishop has always maintained his innocence and strenuously denies the allegations. On Sunday, Nine broadcast video of Pell in casual attire with a companion outside an ice cream shop in Singapore.

The hotel says it apologizes for the inconvenience and urges anyone who made reservations during those times to monitor their accounts for unauthorized activity and contact law enforcement if necessary.

Sabre provides its SynXis Central Reservation system to over 36,000 properties around the world. "The privacy and protection of our guests' information is a matter we take very seriously..."

If you've recently stayed in a Trump hotel you may want to check your credit card statement for fraudulent charges.

In May 2014, hackers installed malware created to swipe payment card information in the computer systems of seven Trump Hotels. It added that the cyberattack did not affect Trump Hotels' systems. We understand that Sabre engaged a leading cybersecurity firm to support its investigation.

In March 2016, the attacker targeted a legacy payment system including the personal data of Trump hotel property owners and social security numbers of over 300 people. Per an investigation into "an incident, ' Sabre discovered that a hacker had gained access to 'account credentials" which made it possible for this person/group to access some reservation data as well as payment card data.
