Facebook says all advertisers can soon buy ads inside Messenger
Facebook on Tuesday said advertisements will begin popping up on Messenger home screens globally after promising tests with users in Australia and Thailand. By the end of this month a small percentage of users will start seeing ads in the Messenger app's home tab.
Users who tap on an ad will be sent to a destination chosen by the ad maker during the creation of the advertisement. The social media giant is now going to place ads right on the home screen of its Messenger app.
Since there are more than 1 billion users now on Facebook Messenger, it was only a matter of time until they figured out how to monetize the platform.
"We'll start slow", he said.

The carousel-style ads appear about halfway down the central hub of the Messenger app, and include multiple brands within the same frame.

You can see an example of a Facebook Messenger home screen ad above. The chat app admits it is rolling out ads for all users in an effort to boost revenue, after conducting initial tests. This move is in addition to Facebook permitting businesses to chat with users directly, sending them sponsored content.
The ads will be shown between messages a user gets on his app, quite similar to how we see ads on Facebook, in between posts by our friends. Facebook also has 60 million businesses linked to it.
The flip side? The new discovery tab for finding business accounts and bots seems like a great fit for advertising, and not almost as invasive, he said.
