The White House Gender Pay Gap Is Worse Than The US Average

Donald Trump has 'spent time at Golf clubs once every five days as president'

U.S. President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump arrive at Morristown municipal airport New Jersey U.S. to spend a weekend at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster New Jersey

When Mark J. Perry, an economist at the conservative think tank The American Enterprise Institute, analyzed the data he found that "The typical female staffer in Trump's White House earns 63.2 cents per $1 earned by a typical male staffer", Perry writes.

The information used in the analysis came from the White House's annual report to Congress, which was released Friday and contains payroll information for White House staffers. But then, Ivanka is not paid a White House salary, nor is her husband, and her father is allegedly donating his pay, so why would she care?

But there are 16 men who are making that top figure at the White House Office, with another who is on detail making even more. The top salary for permanent employees at the White House is 179,700 dollars. Three of the eight employees in that category are women.

When it comes down to gender pay gap, Obama's White House was not ideal but the difference was narrower: in 2014, the difference between the median salary of a male compared to a female staffer was 13 percent, lower than the then national average of 23.5 percent, the Washington Post reported.

Past reporting indicates the disparity is not new to the Trump White House - though it may be more pronounced.

Total to sign $4.8B gas deal with Iran
The 20-year project that defies the U.S. pressure will eventually see the firms inject $4.9 billion. The state-owned China National Petroleum has a 30% stake, while Iran's Petropars has 19.9%.

As with many topics, the White House has given mixed messages on its dedication to ensuring equal pay between the sexes. During Barack Obama's past year, women were paid 10.75 percent less than their male counterparts.

The gap is due in part to the dearth of women at the highest levels of the Trump White House.

Ivanka told CEOs who attended a summit at the White House in April, that encouraging young women to pursue jobs in professions including science, technology and engineering would help reduce the pay gap.

CNN calculated the gender gap using employee names and research.
