SC Election Officials Receive Voter Data Request

Louisiana rejects voter fraud commission request

State-by-state responses to a request for detailed voter data from President Donald Trump's Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity, which is investigating whether there was voter fraud in last year's election.

Lamone, Maryland's elections administrator, rejected the request for information after receiving an opinion from Attorney General Brian E. Frosh, who called Trump's investigation "repugnant".

Dunlap said he made the decision after consulting with Maine Attorney General Janet Mills.

Maryland joined a number of states that will not comply with all or parts of the commission's data request because it does not comply with state law - including IN and Kansas, the respective home states of the commission's chair and vice chair. The Trump administration appointed Maryland's Deputy Secretary of State Luis E. Borunda, a former Baltimore County school board member with little-to-no elections experience, to the 15-member, unpaid, bipartisan panel. Despite losing the popular nationwide vote, Trump's Electoral College victory put him into the Oval Office.

Seattle police: No choice but lethal force in fatal shooting
Seattle police shared photos of the knives found inside Charleena Lyles' apartment following the shooting. But she was attending his church regularly, and was making an effort to improve her life, Isabell said.

There remains no evidence that widespread voter fraud occurred in any state during the November 2016 election, but last Wednesday, the commission's work quickly became a matter of national importance. Many political campaigns, for instance, obtain such information for purposes of advertising and door-knocking.

The Congressional Black Caucus weighed in Friday, releasing a letter urging secretaries of state to deny the data requests from the commission and U.S. Department of Justice. "But rest assured, we will not be releasing any of the voter information that we have that identifies anybody". The request included asking for the last four digits of voters' Social Security numbers. "That's why it is protected by six federal laws and two state laws". Going all the way back to 1860, and the election of Abraham Lincoln, Republican state officials have engaged in efforts aimed at decreasing the ability of younger voters, Black Americans, Latinos, and other Americans more likely to vote for Democrats from exercising their right to vote.

The objective of Trump's voting commission is to push back against voter fraud.
