EVACUATION Over 800 households have evacuated tower blocks at the Chalcots Estate
Cladding on 34 high-rise blocks of apartments in 17 council areas in England have failed fire safety checks, the government said. "We're encouraging all residents to stay with friends and family if they can, otherwise we'll provide accommodation.Specialist staff are on the ground to assist residents with care needs".
Outer cladding on the high-rise failed a fire safety test and will be removed "as soon as possible", Hounslow Council said.
The Department for Communities said in a statement: "All landlords and fire and rescue services for these local authorities have been alerted to the results and we are in touch with all of them to support and monitor follow-up action". "You can't play Russian roulette with people's safety", he told Sky News.
The buildings, the refurbishment of which was overseen by Rydon, the same contractor used by Grenfell Tower, were declared unsafe by the fire service. 'A security guard stood in front of the door and guys surrounded him and he said, "we need to know who you are".
The move was announced as London's Camden Council evacuated residents in four tower blocks amid fire safety fears there.
Gould said that evacuating the five tower blocks was a "really, really hard decision" but needed to be done while urgent first safety work, which is due to take three to four weeks, was completed.
Thousands of residents in a sprawling north London housing estate were left wondering when they could return home on Saturday after fire checks carried out in the wake of the deadly Grenfell Tower blaze found the buildings to be unsafe.
Residents also want the Council to improve on fire safety measures by installing sprinklers, fire alarms and providing fire blanket, all of which are now absent in the high-rise apartments.
Frank notes that officials estimate it will take three to four weeks to make the buildings safe.
Stephen Ledbetter, former director of the Centre for Window and Cladding Technology, said it would cost around £1.2m to re-clad a tower block the size of Grenfell.
The fire has become a flashpoint for public anger at the record of May's Conservative Party in government following cuts to local authority budgets created to lower the national deficit.
"I've called the council number multiple times and they still haven't got back to me".
The authorities have so far said they believe at least 79 people died in the disaster but the local community, and others, have suggested that that figure was low and questioned why the authorities had been unable to be more accurate.
"As a precautionary measure to ensure the continued safety of our tenants, One Vision Housing have taken the decision to remove the cladding from the two blocks with immediate effect, to allow for further investigations", it added.
Members of Holyrood's Local Government and Communities committee said an existing inquiry into building regulations would now also look at tower block accommodation.
China-backed AIIB's coal policy riles green groups
However, Joachim Von Amsberg, vice president of policy and strategy at the AIIB, said MDBs can not be a substitute for government. China has clamped down on its citizens visiting South Korea, which has squeezed tourism on Jeju, local businesses said.
Possible manslaughter charges for London fire
Residents are to be evacuated from five council tower blocks over fire safety fears in the wake of the Grenfell Tower blaze. Problems have so far been identified in 14 buildings in London , Manchester and elsewhere in England, it added.
