Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green earn NBA All-Defensive honors

27 June 2017, 12:46 | Dawn Berry

Leonard, who turns 26 on Thursday, has been named the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year each of the past two seasons and is a finalist for the award this year.

After the league announced the All-Defensive First and Second teams on Monday afternoon, Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas took to Twitter to display his dismay with the league.

On the All-Defensive First Team, Draymond Green and Rudy Gobert were neck and neck for the highest voting totals. Houston's Patrick Beverley, a second-team all-NBA defensive selection following the 2013-2014 season, was also named to the first team.

Leonard is widely considered in National Basketball Association circle to be the best defensive small forward in the league.

In addition to Roberson, the Second Team featured Tony Allen of the Memphis Grizzlies, Danny Green of the San Antonio Spurs, Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans and Giannis Antetokounmpo of th Milwaukee Bucks.

Names of jurors in Bill Cosby case are released
Safier, a lawyer representing additional media outlets who joined in the request to release the jurors' identities. O'Neill initially sealed the jury list and cautioned jurors that speaking out could adversely impact a retrial.

Voters selected two guards, two forwards and a center for each team.

In 79 games (all starts) this past season, Roberson averaged 6.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.19 steals and 1.00 block in 30.1 minutes per contest.

Green is the only guard in the National Basketball Association to have at least 50 steals and 50 blocks in each of the last five seasons.

A player who leads the National Basketball Association in steals and collects the most blocks of anyone at his position is a lock for All-Defensive honors, right? The other three are George Gervin, Robinson and Duncan. Chris Paul has continued to be on all-defensive teams, while Leonard is the reigning two-time Defensive Player of the Year.
