Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is in Islamabad, hoping to ease tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. "As Afghanistan and Pakistan's mutual friend, China encourages them to establish a crisis prevention and management mechanism as soon as possible, to properly deal with any kind of sudden occurrence", Wang said.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said here Sunday that China and Pakistan will firmly stand together to continuously support each other on their core interests and issues of major concern so as to safeguard their legitimate interests as well as regional peace and stability.

The "crisis management mechanism" would enable the two sides to maintain timely and effective communications in the event of any emergencies, including terrorist attacks, allowing the two sides to resolve them through dialogue and consultation, said a joint statement Yi released at a news conference with Pakistani foreign policy adviser, Sartaj Aziz.

According to sources, beijing is proposing a trilateral mechanism for cooperation for peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan and better coordination on counter-terrorism actions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Pakistani leaders strongly dismiss USA and Afghan criticism of their counterterrorism efforts, saying the country has made "monumental sacrifices" in the war against terrorism.

Pakistan-Afghanistan rift have deepened further after the Afghan government put blame of the recent attack in Kabul's diplomatic area on Islamabad.

The President said this initiative will ultimately establish peace in the region.

President said a special security division comprising fifteen thousand personnel has been established for the security of Chinese nationals.
