Turkey's Tayyip Erdogan says Saudi king should resolve Gulf rift during Ramadan

Where Iran, Israel and Russia stand united

The Bloomberg News quoted a Defense Department statement as saying that Qatari Defense Minister Khalid Al-Attiyah and his USA counterpart, Jim Mattis, completed the $12 billion agreement on Wednesday in Washington.

"The $12-billion sale will give Qatar a state-of-the-art capability and increase security cooperation and interoperability between the United States and Qatar", the Pentagon said in a statement.

On Wednesday U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis signed the previously approved Boeing plane deal with Qatari Minister of State for Defence Affairs Khalid al-Attiyah. Al Udeid Air Base is home to more than 11,000 United States and coalition troops.

A Qatari defense ministry source said the deal was for 36 jets.

Trump has echoed the accusations against Qatar, even as his defence and state departments have tried to remain neutral in the dispute among key allies.

Congress past year approved the sale of as many as 72 F-15s in an agreement valued at as much as US$21 billion, providing authorisation for the deal that was completed on Wednesday.

"Qatar is an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Persian Gulf region", the agency said.

No reason to fire special counsel: US Justice Dept
Mueller's law firm, WilmerHale, has represented Trump's former campaign manager and also some Trump family members. Ryan said the smartest thing for the president to do would be to let the investigation continue and be vindicated.

"America's relationship with Qatar is built on the foundation of bilateral security agreements and Qatar's strong role in facilitating U.S. military forward deployment in the Middle East".

Al Jazeera said it was unclear if the arrival of the two warships to Doha was planned before the Gulf rift or if it was a sign of support from the Pentagon.

It is also to be noted that President Donald Trump has criticised Qatar on one hand but on the other hand, he does not seem to be caring as to who gets the deal as long as US gets money which has come under wide criticism among the political circle. There is such a crisis between sister countries and there are some steps that directly affect people.

Cavusoglu, who visited Qatar and Kuwait to try to push diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis, said on Thursday he intends to travel to Saudi Arabia on Friday for talks with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz about the crisis.

But that was before Qatar's neighbours, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, severed diplomatic, trade and transport links last week in a move that they said was aimed at isolating the country for its support of terrorist groups and Iran.

Qatar has denied the accusations, calling the moves to diplomatically isolate it "unjustified". "Resolving the crisis is not through taking [boycott] decisions but through dialogue", Cavusoglu said.
