The tweet was not confirmation that the president or his attorney has been informed by the Department of Justice or Mueller that Trump is the subject of an investigation.
Trump's Twitter response followed days of intensifying criticism of Mueller from some conservatives who have charged the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director and his team with political bias and have claimed his relationship to Comey and an earlier meeting with Trump amount to conflicts of interest. Trump said on Twitter, calling the probe into him a "Witch Hunt".
It was unclear whether the president was referring to Special Counsel Robert Mueller or Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
ABC News reported on Friday that Rosenstein has privately said he may need to recuse himself from matters relating to the Russian Federation probe, given that he could become a potential witness in the investigation.

One indication that Trump knows Mueller's in a different league than the real estate and contractor lawyers he usually faces, is that he and his minions have begun a campaign to discredited and cast doubt on Mueller, despite Trump once having Mueller on his short list to replace Comey.
