Major League Baseball will relax its uniform rules for a weekend later this season according to a memo. More

Passan writes the players association and Major League Baseball negotiated the agreement.

Players Weekend might mark the beginning of a period of general relaxation in how the league views players inserting their own brand or personality.

The Red Sox are home against the Baltimore Orioles that weekend and normally don't wear names on the backs of their home jerseys, but team president Sam Kennedy told WEEI they'll make an exception for "Players Weekend".

Passan listed spikes, batting gloves, wristbands and catcher's masks among the pieces of equipment "with minimal color restrictions", although he noted they can not interfere with the game or umpires. The colors, according to the memo, must avoid interfering with the game and an umpire's ability to make a call. White gloves, wristbands and sleeves will not be allowed.

A look at all 10 of Rafael Nadal's French Open finals
And Roger Federer is a very happy man that he didn't come to the French because his confidence has not been dented. Sunday was also the first time since 1969 that the Roland Garros final had featured two men over 30.

The players can also wear brightly colored cleats, as well as a patch bearing the name of an organization or person who impacted his development.

The policy begs the question: What will the Mariners come up with, and which player will show the most creativity? Will we one day see the Cubs wearing Smokey Bear-themed jerseys, or maybe the Phillies sponsored by blunts?

Surely, nothing will beat the Mariners' Turn Ahead the Clock night uniforms from 1998.

Can the "Mayor of Ding Dong City" fit onto the back of a baseball uniform?
