"I just realized I had to let something go and it's been the hardest decision of my life because you guys are my family", she said, choking up.

She's been on CBS' "The Talk" for six years and will leave at the end of this season in July, Tyler said.

Tyler, who joined the CBS series for Season 2, recently directed her first film - a thriller called "Axis" - and she says she needed to carve out more time to direct additional projects moving forward. She also voices the role of Lana on FXX's animated spy comedy Archer and hosts CW's revival of the improv comedy show Whose Line Is It Anyway?

But, when the actress got the chance to get behind the camera and direct she knew she had found her calling.

Tyler explained that she's just too busy with three other shows and her burgeoning directing career. I have had an fantastic six years with you guys.

The "biggest breakup of my life" is likely her recent divorce from longtime husband Jeff Tietjens, which she also discussed on The Talk.

Her fellow co-hosts wished her well, with Sheryl Underwood getting up and walking around the table to give Tyler a hug.

As for the reasoning behind the exit, Tyler posted on Twitter that she may have an interest in simply changing things up.

The Talk's official Twitter account posted a goodbye message to Tyler, which read, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened". In one post, Aisha wrote that life is about change and sometimes it can be both painful and handsome.

You can see Aisha Tyler on The Talk weekdays on CBS for the rest of this season. Most of the time, it's both. "Throughout her six seasons, she has made incredible contributions and shared personal moments, making our viewers, cast and crew all laugh, cry and think, as a result of her signature with, intelligence and openness".
