Theresa May went to church in Sonning Berkshire today in the wake of her disastrous election result last week
May's office has already said that the senior Cabinet members - Treasury chief Philip Hammond, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and Home Secretary Amber Rudd - will keep their current jobs, but she is expected to reshuffle the lower ranks of ministers.
Both the Mail on Sunday and the Sunday Times newspapers reported that aides to Johnson, a leading Brexit campaigner, were taking soundings about a potential leadership challenge. "He's in a permanent leadership campaign so I am not sure it qualifies as news", he said. "Let's get on with the job", he said.
She also confirmed to German Chancellor Angela Merkel in a phone call yesterday that Britain was ready to begin Brexit negotiations "as planned in the next couple of weeks", reassuring European Union leaders who had expressed doubts after May's electoral losses.
Downing Street said May's new chief of staff would be Gavin Barwell, a Conservative lawmaker who lost his seat on Thursday and has experience working as a party enforcer in parliament.
The surge in membership follows a hugely successful result for Jeremy Corbyn's Labour Party, who gained 30 seats in the election to take its total to 262.
Many senior Conservatives say May should stay, for now, to provide stability. A petition on Change.org had more than half a million signatures by Saturday afternoon, calling for May's resignation over her alliance with the DUP.
"I don't think she does have a majority in the House of Commons for leaving the single market", she told Sky News.
"Theresa May is a dead woman walking, it's just how long she's going to remain on death row", former chancellor of the exchequer George Osborne said on Sunday during a panel discussion on BBC TV's Andrew Marr Show.
The Conservatives now plan to reach a so-called confidence and supply agreement with the DUP, which would involve it supporting a Conservative minority government on key votes in parliament but not forming a formal coalition.
Northern Ireland is the only part of the U.K.in which same-sex marriage is illegal.
At the meeting with the 1922 Committee, despite several calls to resign since Thursday's election, May's hard Brexit stance is certain to come under pressure during the meeting, with her focus on securing controls on immigration thought to be unpopular among many backbenchers.
The 1998 Good Friday agreement set up power sharing in Northern Ireland, largely ending years of sectarian violence.
In Ireland, there is growing concern that by bringing the DUP into government, London will no longer be able to perform its traditional role as an impartial broker in the Northern Ireland peace process. She's then got to present a programme to Parliament. MPs will debate these plans for six days before voting on them on June 27.
Corbyn will push a substantial amendment to the Queen's speech.
And now we're going to head to the United Kingdom where the political landscape has proven to be as riveting and unpredictable as in the U.S. Last week, we talked about Prime Minister Theresa May's decision to call a snap election.
Days after the 2017 general election, Labour could expect 45 per cent of the vote were an election held tomorrow, and the Tories 39 per cent.
ROGER SCULLY: Well, I think a major thing that happened is that the Conservative Party effectively undermined the core message of their own campaign. "This is still on", Corbyn told the Sunday Mirror newspaper.
