Mahatma Gandhi is a 'Chatur Baniya' Says BJP President Amit Shah, Gets Slammed On The Internet

'Bahut Chatur Baniya': What Amit Shah Called Mahatma Gandhi

Shah said Gandhi knew the weakness of the Congress party and thus suggested its dissolution after the country gained independence.

"Congress kisi ek vichaar dhaara ke adhaar par, kisi ek siddhant ke adhaar par bani hui party hi nahi hai, woh azadi prapt karne ka ek special objective vehicle hai, azadi prapt karne ka ek saadhan tha". And that is why Mahatma Gandhi had foresight, he was a very clever baniya, he knew what would happen in the future. "This shows the character and ideology of the ruling party and its president".

"We demand that Amit Shah, BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologise to the country, the families of freedom fighters and every citizen for insulting the freedom movement".

"Amit Shah has insulted freedom fighters and Mahatma Gandhi".

BJP is today acting like the same special objective vehicle for certain "corporate houses" and taking care of their business interests, added Surjewala. The BJP president who is now on his 3-day visit to Chattisgarh made this comment on Mahatma Gandhi when he was in an event where a number of "eminent persons" of the state were present.

Saudi-led squeeze on Qatar leaves Hamas facing big questions
She said families of the missing Palestinians have been seeking information about them but so far nothing has come up. But its small size and reliance on food imports from Saudi Arabia could make it susceptible to pressure.

"At a time when the country is celebrating 100 years of Champaran Satyagrah of Gandhi, the BJP President has insulted him and the 1.25 crore people of India".

The parties also alleged that the comment "exposed" the BJP's "contempt" for the father of the nation. "It is unfortunate, uncalled for and unethical", she told reporters here.

Taking a swipe at Shah, the Trinamool Congress supremo claimed that no one should think of themselves as a superpower just because they are at the helm.

Shah had on Friday referred to Mahatma Gandhi as a "chatur baniya" (a clever Baniya - the trading caste) while addressing a gathering in Raipur in Chhattisgarh. Speaking in Raipur on Friday, Shah said that the Congress Party was nothing more than a "special goal vehicle" used to win freedom from the British colonists, The Indian Express reported.

Shah hit out at the Congress for the lack of internal democracy and said that out of the 1650 political organisations in India only two parties, BJP and CPI (M) have inner democracy.
