Receiver Julian Edelman's new contract - originally leaked as a multi-year! extension - tacks two new seasons onto the existing one, at a payout of $14 million through 2019.
Wide receiver Julian Edelman will remain with the New England Patriots after both sides agreed to a contract extension. Though he has never been a Pro Bowler, Edelman has been massively important to the Patriots passing game these last few years.

Donald Trump is making his way from Saudi Arabia to Israel, where he will spend the next two days of his foreign trip. The Washington Post said the probe had reached into the White House to include a Trump adviser, who was not named.
NFL Media reported early Thursday the Patriots and Edelman were moving toward a contract extension. He is known as one of quarterback Tom Brady's favorite targets, with at least 92 receptions in three of the last four seasons.
Edelman has been with the Patriots since being drafted by the organization in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Edelman was slated to become a free agent after the 2017 season. Because of his high value to the offense, the Patriots have limited Edelman's work on punt returns the past two years.
He won his second Super Bowl ring as part of the greatest comeback in National Football League history - and his juggling, circus catch may be one of the most indelible images from that legendary game.
