India signed Paris pact not for money: Sushma
"We have signed the Paris accord not under any pressure nor for any money ...to say we did it for money, I totally reject that,"Swaraj told media in Delhi".
She said that it was part of the Indian ethos to revere nature and that rivers, forests and mountains continue to be worshipped and revere in this country. Swaraj said India would want supporting countries to speak to China about it. "India wants countries which back its bid for NSG membership to talk to China for Beijing's support", she said.
"This is completely not true", Swaraj said about Trump's charges he made while announcing the USA exit from the Paris deal last week.
Addressing the annual press conference of her ministry to highlight the achievements of the Modi government in last three years, Swaraj said, "80,000 people stranded overseas brought back to India in last three years".
"For this, I am thankful first to PM Modi and then to my deputies - Gen VK Singh (retd) and MJ Akbar". She also said that India wanted to resolve all differences with Pakistan, "but talks and terror do not go together".
The foreign affairs minister was addressing a press conference on the completion of three years of the NDA government.
On the issue of Kashmir, she said that Pakistan could not take the Kashmir issue to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) as the matter had to be solved bilaterally.
The External Affairs Minister lamented that there was no progress on the the investigation of the Pathankot attack in Pakistan.
"These and similar statements have been passed around, which are creating confusion", Haq was quoted by Dawn News as saying, and adding that Pakistan did not act according to expectations and the steps taken by the country in the Jadhav case had only caused embarrassment to the nation. Calling the regulations "unattainable", she said that former US President Barack Obama did not approach the US Senate to clear the climate deal, "because he couldn't".
Besides the new issue of climate change, the proposed changes in the H1B visa, the tightening of security checks for visas, and the role of the United States and India in resolving the Afghan crisis are also on the top of the agenda list for both leaders.
Listing out the National Democratic Alliance's achievements, she said that 80,000 Indians stranded overseas where brought back to the country. Trump alleged that India had made its participation in the accord contingent on receiving foreign aid from developed countries.
Unlike other signatories to the Paris agreement, India has not agreed to cap or reduce its emissions outright but instead to greatly increase its use of green energy.
"Our government's popularity has sored because of the pro-people policies", she said.
