ADP National Employment Reports Says Private Sector Added 177000 Jobs in April

Survey: Businesses added solid 177000 jobs in April
Private-sector employment increased by 177,000 jobs nationwide from March to April, according to the latest National Employment Report from ADP.
"Wage growth is picking up, which is important for consumer spending and the economy picking up and making sure the expansion continues beyond its eighth birthday, which is in June", Zandi said during a conference call Wednesday with reporters. This is down from 255,000 jobs added in March and the first report under 200,000 in the past six months. The ADP figures have shown a spotty relationship with the government's monthly payrolls tallies, particularly in March when the group's reading was nearly triple the Labour Department's gain in private employment.
The gap demonstrated why some economists have cautioned against using the ADP print as a preview of the official jobs report.
"In April we saw a moderate slowdown from the strong pace of hiring in the first quarter", said Ahu Yildirmaz, vice president and co-head of the ADP Research Institute, in a statement. ADP, a human resources management company, is based in Roseland, N.J.
According to ADP, there was an increase in employment of 61,000 for small companies, 78,000 for mid-sized companies and 38,000 for large companies with all categories showing slower growth than in March.
